The story of La Tour: a sixteenth-century tower in the Dordogne, lovingly restored into a unique holiday home for two.
As soon as I saw the little tower for sale, I fell in love with it immediately. Now I’m the proud owner, I get huge satisfaction at the pleasure it brings to our visitors.

History
La Tour dates back to around 1600, and its original purpose is still debated. Its position, its architectural style, the crossbow holes beneath the windows and the curious stone bench set into the wall all offer clues.
The most charming theory is that it once worked as a windmill, watching over the surrounding fields for more than four centuries.

Restoration
When the former owners bought the tower, it was little more than a roof, windows and a door. Only the beautiful lattice windows and the chestnut-beamed roof, in the original style of the region, had already been restored.
Everything else was crafted by master artisans: a handmade interior of ash and hardwood, cleverly fitted into the round walls.

Wildlife
Guests are often amazed by the sheer variety of wild flowers and creatures in this little paradise. The prairie field is full of wild orchids, herbs and other remarkable plants.
Butterflies, hummingbird hawk-moths and birdsong included; bring your camera.

Star Gazing
Deep in rural France, light pollution is virtually non-existent, and on clear nights the Milky Way stretches right over the tower.
Take a glass of Bergerac outside after dark and simply look up: the night sky here is a wonder to behold.
About the Owner
Hello, I’m Edith. I love good food, a glass of wine, relaxing, DIY jobs, horse riding and playing with our labrador.
I love France and sunny weather, so my little tower, which I fell in love with at first sight, is the perfect place for me. I’d love to share it with people who enjoy peace and quiet, walking and doing blissfully nothing. So: welcome!
